WORKING FOR OXFORD SU
Welcome to Oxford SU! We are the representative charity for the students at the University of Oxford. Our mission is to improve the lives of Oxford students and we are student-led at every level. As a member of student staff you will join a small team of expert staff who have worked in this sector for years.
We’re committed to ensuring our workforce reflects the diversity of the world and community we’re based in. We positively encourage applications from all individuals irrespective of their gender, age, home country, ethnic background, sexuality, religious beliefs or disability.
About the role
We are looking for a student member of staff to join the Student Engagement Team at Oxford SU. Our team looks after the SU's democracy, elections, Campaigns, Student Council, RAG, Target Schools, and support for Common Room committees.
This role will include writing minutes, helping at in-person events, and all sorts of administration tasks within the Student Engagement Team. This is a highly varied role, but here's an example of a past Student Engagement Assistant shift:
- 2pm-3:30pm: Anonymising submissions to our Bodleian writing competition
- 3:30-4pm: Popping to Tesco to pick up supplies for a Disabilities Campaign event
- 4-4:30pm: Packing an order of wellbeing supplies for an MCR to pick up
- 4:30pm-5pm: Working with the Comms team on an Instagram post about Student Council
- 5pm-6pm: Writing notes at WomCom (a meeting for all Common Room Women*s reps)
Who we are looking for
This role is for current Oxford students only. No experience is needed - this is a great opportunity to learn these skills and add them to your CV.
This is a very flexible role, but generally you will be asked to do between 4 and 6 hours per week, often in the early evening. We understand that you will have busier periods around your deadlines and exams and will always try to accommodate this.
This is a temporary role finishing at the end of TT23. If you are available for work in the summer vac there may be the opportunity for further work.
Pay
This role is paid at Oxford Living Wage, £11.35 per hour.
