Oxfordshire has almost 16,000 children living in poverty; ten of its wards are listed in the top 25% most disadvantaged nationally. ARCh is an award-winning charity, unique in Oxfordshire, which reaches out to many of these children in primary schools across the county. Since its inception in 2008 ARCh’s professionally trained Reading Helpers to transform the lives of thousands of children by giving them a lifelong love of reading.

  • Volunteer Reading Helper

    This opportunity takes place between 04 Oct 2019 and 07 Oct 2022

    After successfully completing our application, vetting (including enhanced DBS) and training, ARCh Reading Helpers visit a primary school in their locality each week, usually spending 30 minutes 1:1 with three children, sharing fun with books. games and lovely conversation. The school selects children they believe will benefit most from the mentoring support of an ARCh volunteer.
