During 7th Week Hilary term, the Students’ Union launched its flagship mental health campaign. This week aimed to get people to talk about mental health to increase awareness and fight stigma.
Alongside Oxford SU Disabilities Campaign, the SU hosted over ten events, including our extremely popular daily pop up café across campus which saw over 1000 students visit to learn more about the campaign and have a chat about mental health.
The evenings saw a multitude of events take place from “Why is there a crisis in student mental health?” to a Mindfulness Taster.
Each day we launched powerful video testimonials from students, you can view them here https://www.oxfordsu.org/myh/, so far over 30,000 people have watched these videos.
The week culminated in the publication of an open letter to the Vice Chancellor of Oxford about the student mental health crisis. The letter called for immediate action by the university to take leadership on the issue, involve student voices to create a new strategy and to ensure the policies are embedded across the collegiate university.
