Student engagement in democracy

Who's making it happen

Description

This year, we're going to be pushing for greater engagement with student democracy and pushing for Student Council to become a more robust, democratic body.

We've historically not had much gradute participation with the SU. As graduates now represent over half of the student population of Oxford and face a wide range of issues from housing to isolation out of term time, it's crucial that the SU fights for them. That's why this year we'll have a particular focus on engaging the graduate population with the SU.

We'll also continue to provide support to Common Rooms and their Presidents to ensure they can achieve as much as possible. I want to see empowered Common Rooms that are well equipped to support students and lobby their colleges for necessary changes.

Furthermore, we'll be encouraging students to pitch their project ideas to Student Council for funding and support them as they carry out their projects.
