About me

Hi I'm Oluwakemi or just Kemi (she/her), your VP Women for 2021/22.
Before this role my background led me to working with my last two predecessors through my role as a women's officer at my college Wadham in my second year and then as Co-Chair for the SU Campaign, It Happens Here. Both of the roles were genuinely rewarding and allowed the freedom to participate the sort of activism that made me want to then take up the role I have now where I can further influence policy change and spread awareness.

This year, my focus is on discussions surrounding women's mental health and sexual health. I want to normalise students using the welfare services available and making the resources more transparent and accessible and also work to invite speakers to create sessions on sexual health. I wish to shed light on medical bias and difficulties women face with diagnosis especially concerning mental health disorders. Besides these issues, I will continue to push for the staff student relationship ban to be adopted as I have been since my time as co-chair for It Happens Here.

My main goal from this year is to hopefully empower students to create the spaces and lobby for the things they feel they need in Oxford, the way I know previous Sabbatical officers have done to inspire the new team. Please feel free to contact me about any of my projects through email at vpwomen@oxfordsu.ox.ac.uk.
