Oxford University Basketball Club is one of the most successful sports teams in the university and has members from nations all over the globe. Our club trains at Iffley Road Sports Centre, home of the famous Roger Bannister track. Although Roger Bannister himself didn't train with us New York Knicks' Bill Bradley (1965-67), and former US President Bill Clinton (1968) have both represented the university.
OUBbC has four running basketball teams competing in the British Universities and College Sports (BUCS) championships: Mens Blues, Womens Blues, Mens Twos, and Womens Twos. We also have a Wheelchair Basketball team which competes in the British Wheelchair Basketball (GBWBA) University Championships. The teams also compete in the annual Varsity Match against Cambridge in Hilary term.
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in OUBbC. We hold trials during 0th week of Michaelmas for our university teams. If you are interested in recreational involvement, we run a college league during Michaelmas and Hilary terms, a Cuppers (inter-collegiate) tournament in Trinity term, and an open 3x3 tournament also during Trinity term.
