We are now known as Oxford South Asian Society (OxSAAS) - we used to be Oxford Indian Performing Arts Centre.

The Team
Our team is made up of a small group of Oxford University and Oxford Brookes University Students who are all passionate in various elements of the South Asian Arts. More information on the types of shows/ events we organise and the art forms we feature can be found on our website:

https://oocica.wixsite.com/oxsaas

Indian Classical Arts

We are very passionate about the Indian Classical Art forms: examples include Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Mohiniyattam, etc and Hindustani and Carnatic Classical music forms (all of which have been featured in the shows and events we have organised in the past few years at venues across Oxford). You can have a look at videos and photos of these performances and events on our Facebook page, website and youtube channel "Oxford South Asian Arts Society"!

We also have a network of teachers for many of the classical arts based within Oxford and hold regular sessions for many of these. If you are interested in picking up an art form, or carrying on with any training you've had before, no matter what your experience level, check out:

and feel free to contact the relevant session coordinators!

Bollywood

We also equally love our Bollywood and like to host Bollywood/R&B fusion club nights, Bollywood movie screenings, music jam sessions, Bollywood/Zumba fusion sessions, Bollywood Dance classes, etc. We also have a facebook group dedicated to informing everyone about all the Bollywood related events occuring within Oxford:

Plays, Poetry and More...

This year we are also trying to incorporate plays with a poetry/dance/music fusion so keep an eye out for that if you're interested! You don't need to be at all familiar with any of the art forms to take part/ get involved with our events, we are just looking to get more people interested in the South Asian Arts and have fun doing something they love/ something completely new! It goes without saying that you also don't have to identify as a South Asian to take part in our events, the events are for everyone to take part in and are an amazing opportunity to get a taste of the vibrant and lively nature of the South Asian Arts!

Again more information about events, art forms, etc can be found on our website/ facebook page so feel free to take a look!
