ALISA FOR WELFARE, EQUITY & INCLUSION OFFICER
Making Oxford a fairer, healthier, and more inclusive community for all students.

My name is Alisa Brown, and I am running to be your Welfare, Equity & Inclusion Officer. I have a proven track record of advocating for student needs and leading initiatives that make a tangible difference. As the current Inclusion Officer on the Oxford University Sports Council and the former Socioeconomic Officer at the Oxford Union, I bring extensive experience in advocating for underrepresented groups. In 2024/2025, I was elected Vice President of your Student Union for Communities and Activities with 1,524 votes. However, due to the SU’s closure and reformation process, my role was made redundant before I could carry out the duties you entrusted me with. I am running again to continue the work I intended and fulfil the mandate I was overwhelmingly elected to deliver.

Why I’m Running
Oxford is a place of immense opportunity, but barriers to equity persist for too many of our peers. Students from marginalised backgrounds face unique challenges, from financial stress to racialised disparities in academic attainment and limited access to resources. Born to a Jamaican father and Japanese mother, state school educated, and the first in my family to attend university, I have experienced firsthand how structural inequalities can shape educational journeys. In 2023, I secured a hardship bursary for my master’s degree—but not everyone has such luck. All students should be able to experience and enjoy Oxford for more than just its academia. I am standing to ensure no student is left behind and to deliver tangible changes that create a more equitable, inclusive, and supportive university experience for all.
