Brasenose HCR General Meeting 08 May 2024

DonationMotionTT24

The HCR resolves to:

Oxford regularly features as one of the top five areas in the UK for the number of rough
sleepers as a proportion of the total local population, and sadly around half a dozen
individuals die on Oxford’s streets every winter.
The Companions of the Order of Malta- Oxford is the largest student led charity in Oxford
and feeds more than 50 people per week (https://www.facebook.com/COMOxford). They
are led by Adelaida Jimenez-Villarejo of St. Johns and Fra’ John Edinow of Merton. HCR
members James Potticary, Nishen Menerapitiyage Don, and Henry Thompson have
volunteered with them before.

The vulnerably housed of Oxford are our neighbours and we ought to donate funds to
ensure they do not go hungry, have access to showers and have clean clothes to wear.

Donate £500.00 to the Companions of the Order of Malta-Oxford (enough to support 2
weeks of operations).

HCR TV Motion TT24

The HCR resolves to:

Designate a committee member to look into options for TV packages that (i) are T&C
appropriate for public viewing, (ii) include a broad variety of sport for the coming
year, and (iii) maximise co-benefits for other TV use, and (iv) are cost-effective within
the HCR budget.

HCR_Palestine_Motion

The HCR resolves to:

1) Join the MCRs of Somerville College, St Anthony’s College and Exeter College in their
call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the release of Israeli
hostages and Palestinian administrative detainees, an end to the targeting of
Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and inside Israeli territory, as well as for the
unhindered restoration of humanitarian aid in Gaza to prevent further loss of life and
for the restoration of power, water, food and telecommunications
2) To condemn the ongoing bombardment, displacement, and genocide of Palestinian
people by the Israeli state, the building of illegal settlements in the West Bank, the
killing of civilians (Palestinian and Israeli), aid workers and journalists and the
destruction of Gaza’s universities
3) To emphasise that there is no place for antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism or any
form of discrimination, in our college or in our university
4) To request college to offer welfare support to students participating in encampment
outside the Museum of Natural History
5) To opening meaningful dialogue and discussion with Brasenose College on this issue
