Academic Issues (Taught Students)

Academic advice for Taught Students on misconduct, appeals, complaints, exams, late submission/extensions, mitigating circumstances and more.

Academic Appeals Any student at the University can make an Academic Appeal against a decision of an academic body, such as the Board of Examiners.
Academic Misconduct University Academic Misconduct procedures are initiated when you have been reported for being believed to have deliberately or recklessly breached the Regulations for Candidates in Examinations.
College Complaints The advice on this webpage relates to submitting a complaint to your college, you can find advice on other types of complaints on the relevant pages below.
Course complaints If you are unhappy with any aspect of your university experience, you can submit a complaint.
Dispensation Requests Dispensation requests are used when you need to ask the University for a change to the standard regulations.
Exam adjustments Exam adjustments can be put in place to help adapt your examination to be accessible to you and your disability.
Fitness to Practice Advice coming soon.
Fitness to Study Fitness to Study procedures may be initiated when your college or the University have concerns about your ability to continue your studies based on certain factors.
Late Submissions and Extensions If you do submit your work late, you will receive an email notification of the consequences (such as an academic penalty) and instructions on what to do next.
Missed Exam If you are going to, or have, missed an exam then your College (or department, if non-matriculated) can request your excusal.
Mitigating Circumstances If your performance in your exams has been seriously affected by a medical or personal issue then you can inform the university of this via a Mitigating Circumstances notice to examiners.
Residency Requirements The University of Oxford requires full time students to live within a certain distance of the University for at least a certain number of terms throughout your studies.
