Associate Memberships
Many common rooms will have an associate membership for their common room. These people will not always necessarily be a member of the students' union, which can sometimes cause problems for them accessing all of our services. Also, some students may be members of their common room but have chosen to opt out of students' union membership.
To overcome this problem, we have set up an associate membership product for each common room.
How to Register as an Associate Member
If someone is not automatically recognised as a member of Oxford SU, but your common room wishes to include them, they can now register through our new associate membership system.
Here’s what they need to do:
- Create a guest account on the Oxford SU website.
- Log back in with their new account.
- Go to their relevant Common Room page.
- Select and "purchase" the associate membership (don’t worry — it’s free).
- Go to the basket and check out as usual.
Common Room Admin Responsibilities
Once someone registers as an associate member, it is the responsibility of the Common Room President or other designated admin to check the list of associate members and confirm it matches their expected membership.
This verification is now fully managed by the common room - Oxford SU will no longer oversee this process.
Admin Support
Our team can still manually add associate members if needed.
