Oxford shapes the world, and students shape Oxford. Since 1961, the Students’ Union has represented and advocated for the student body. Our purpose remains clear: to ensure that student voices are heard, valued and able to influence decisions at every level of the University. Each year, students elect the officers and representatives who provide leadership and set our priorities. Your voice guides the SU and shapes the future of the Oxford student experience.

1. What are Oxford SU Elections? For almost 65 years, Oxford University Students Union (Oxford SU) has been representing and campaigning on behalf of students at every level of the University.
2. Election Rules To ensure these elections are free, fair, and transparent, OxfordSU has rules that all prospective candidates and candidates must follow.
3. How Nominations work If you’re passionate about representing students or shaping the work of the SU, or you know someone who would be, registering your interest in nomination is the first step!
4. What is a Candidate Statement? Students take time to understand who is standing and what they bring to the role. One of the most important ways they do this is by reading Candidate Statements.
5. Campaigning Candidates can start campaigning at 09:00 on Tuesday 3rd February 2026 online and around the University. Campaigning will continue until the close of voting at 20:00 on Thursday 12th February 2026.
6. How voting works When voting opens, just log in to your Oxford SU account and you’ll be prompted to cast your vote.
7. The Count & Results Once voting has closed and any complaints are resolved, the results will be counted. As we use a Single Transferable Vote system, if there is no clear winner, multiple rounds of counting are often required to redistribute the votes.
