Oxford SU is working with the University through the Vision Zero Working Group to make cycling safer.

Here, we have summarised some of the key ways the University and SU are working to support students be safe when cycling:

 

Bike Doctor

The SU works with the University to run free bike mechanic session three times per term. Repairs that don't require bike parts are free, and if bike parts are needed, your mobile mechanic will give you a quote. The dates of these are displayed on our events page

Subsidised Helmets

The University is offering a £10 subsidy to staff and students purchasing a helmet at the following locations - you just need to show your University card at the time of purchase:

Free Cycle Safety Training

The University offers up to six hours of free cycle training for students and members of staff with Broken Spoke. This covers basic bike handling skills for total beginners through to advanced skills for cycling in challenging traffic situations. Broken Spoke’s training is accredited to the national cycle proficiency standard Bikeability. As a student or member of staff, you can book up to six hours of free training.
