Let us know your access needs ♿️

If you're attending the Fair, whether as a visitor or student standholder, and have access needs, please don't hestiate to get in touch. Email us at: studentengagement@oxfordsu.ox.ac.uk and we'll do our very best to accomodate you.

We want Freshers Fair to be a great experience for everyone. Let us know how we can help.

Accessibility Stewards

Our team of trained student stewards will be on hand to support anyone with access requirements. This may include (but is not limited to) students who are:

  • Neurodivergent

  • Wheelchair users

  • Sight or hearing impaired

Stewards can help you navigate stalls, activities, and facilities so you can fully engage with the event. They will always ask before assisting and follow your preferences.

Step-Free Access

Step-free access is available throughout the venue. Please note that some ramps are currently steep; Showsec staff will be on hand to provide assistance if required. We are continuing to improve these arrangements and will provide updates as they are confirmed.

Quiet Hours

To make the fair more accessible for those who prefer a calmer environment, we are offering dedicated quiet hours with reduced noise and lighting:

  • Day 1: 16:00–17:00

  • Day 2: 09:00–10:00

We encourage students who feel this might be beneficial to make use of one of the two dedicated Quiet Hours. The Fair can be very high traffic and noisy. Navigation can be more challenging at other times.

Our team will remain responsive to sensory needs throughout both days.

Portable Hearing Loops

We will have four portable hearing loops available, located at both the SU and Exam Schools. These are best for one-to-one conversations and may be less effective during peak busy times.

Sunflower Lanyards

Sunflower lanyards are available for students with non-visible disabilities who wish to wear them.

  • They can be collected at the accessible entrance and registration desk.

  • Wearing one is completely optional – you do not need to use a lanyard to access support.

Event stewards and stallholders will be briefed on what the lanyards mean.

Large-Print Maps

Large-print versions of the Freshers’ Fair Accessibility map will be available at the stall registration desk, provided on request.

Break Areas & Water Stations

Designated break areas will be available across the venue if you need to rest or step away from the crowds. Free water stations will also be available to keep you hydrated.

Access Routes & Toilets

Clear access routes will be signposted throughout the venue. Accessible toilets are available and marked on the event map.
