SU Presidents Vac round-up HT26

We hope you had a restful Vac period and are ready to begin Hilary term. While Oxford may have been a bit quieter without its students, your SU Presidents have continued to work behind the scenes and prepare for the term ahead. Here’s a roundup of what we’ve been up to over the Vacation.

SU Presidents’ Vac round-up

We hope you had a restful Vac period and are ready to begin Hilary term. While Oxford may have been a bit quieter without its students, your SU Presidents have continued to work behind the scenes and prepare for the term ahead. Here’s a roundup of what we’ve been up to over the Vacation.

We made sure that your voices continued to be heard in collegiate University Committees:

  • APP (Access and Participation Plan) Reporting Group

  • Environmental Sustainability Subcommittee

  • Information and Digital Committee

  • Joint UG and PG Admissions Working Group on AI

  • Planning and Resource Allocation Committee

  • Proctors' Committee .

We did lots of bigger picture strategic work to build a stronger SU:

  • Strategic planning day as a staff team to determine the long-term direction of the SU based on student consultation.

  • Attended the SU Trustee Board meeting, supporting good governance and management of the organisation.

  • Transformation Committee which reports on the status of the SU post-transformation.

We continued to develop mechanisms for engagement and representation:

  • Seun facilitated an Academic Skills workshop with Alisa to ensure student voice remains at the centre of the dialogues around supporting the development of students’ academic skills.

  • Shermar and Wantoe represented Oxford SU at the Russell Group SU winter residential in Leeds.

  • We all planned for Hilary term and undertook impact reporting for MT 25, and attended a pre-meet for Council happening in week 1, to make sure we’re prepared as we can be.

  • We analysed the feedback we gathered over Oxmas so we can better understand the students we represent.

We continued to build good relationships with key staff:

  • Shermar met with the Warden of All Souls, had a meeting at Principal’s Office at St Hugh’s, and a meeting at Presidential lodgings of Magdalen College.

  • We all attended the Bodleian strategy meeting with the Head of the Bodleian Libraries.

  •  We met with the Vice-Chancellor.

  • Wantoe met the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education to help set the agenda for Education Committee’s for Hilary Term

Lastly, we engaged in some festive fun ...

  • We attended the SU Staff Christmas Lunch.

  • Went for drinks at the Chief Diversity Officers Christmas do.

  • We were even invited to the Vice-Chancellor's Christmas party!

That’s everything for now, we’ll be back again next week to wrap up week 1.

Thanks for reading!
