SU Presidents week 4 round-up

It’s the end of week, 4 and Hilary is flying by. Here’s what the SU Presidents have been up to this week:  *Shermar attended congregation at the Sheldonian, and Alisa spoke at the DPhil welcome evening at the Weston library.

It’s the end of week, 4 and Hilary is flying by. Here’s what the SU Presidents have been up to this week: 

*Shermar attended congregation at the Sheldonian, and Alisa spoke at the DPhil welcome evening at the Weston library. 

*Seun and Shemar attended University council, amplifying student voices in a key governance space. 

*We hosted MCR PresCom, continuing to build relationships with student leaders across colleges. 

*Seun met with Caz, President of Brookes Union, to discuss collaborative action on student loan reform 

*We also hosted the second Postgraduate storytelling series, focusing on stories of impact  

*We had a meeting on student loan reform, and what we can do as a team to lobby nationally to advocate for students. 

* Shermar met with the Master of St Catz, continuing to develop working relationships with key stakeholders across colleges. 

*We began to draft a motion to take to Conference of Common Rooms relating to the black student awarding rates. 

*Alisa attended the Condition E6 Steering Group, a space which works to implement the Office for Students’ condition of registration related to preventing sexual harassment and violence in universities.  

*We also met with the EDI Officer Student EDI and Learning) to go about organising a student racial and religious inclusion forum. 

We’ve been in lots of university committees representing students this week.

  • Graduate Access Committee 

  • Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Training Working Group 

  • Joint Equality and Diversity Committee 

  • Security Subcommittee 

  • University Council.
