SU Presidents week 3 round-up HT26

As week 3 draws to a close, the rhythm of term has well and truly been established. Here’s what the SU Presidents have been up to.

As week 3 draws to a close, the rhythm of term has well and truly been established. Here’s what the SU Presidents have been up to ⬇️

We have been in lots of University Committees representing students this week:

  • Strategic sports subcommittee

  • Student life subcommittee

  • Domestic Bursars’ Committee

  • Taught Degree and Awards Panel

We also advocated for students in the following University spaces:

  • University of Sanctuary meeting

  • Race Equality Week Tea at the Equality and Diversity Unit

  • Shermar met with the Co-Director of Student Welfare and Student Support

Shermar chaired Candidate Hustings, attended the Council pre-meet and was a speaker on the Power of Activism panel at the Sheldonian Series. Go Shermar!

Shermar and Alisa attended the Equality and Diversity Unit tea, as well as a dinner with Lord Isaac Provost of Worcester College.

Alisa attended the University of Sanctuary meeting, supported some Common Room student leaders with welfare supplies, and met with the BME Part-time Officer and the Student Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Learning Officer. She also recorded the next episode of our podcast that will be released in week 4.

Wantoe facilitated the Postgraduate Representation Committees this week, attended the AI use in formative assessment and teaching joint working party meeting and attended the UNIQ+ management group – he then went on Annual Leave. See you soon Wantoe!

We continued to develop mechanisms for engagement and representation:

  • We went to the SU’s Conference of Collegiate Universities working group, hoping to bring together student leaders across the Collegiate Universities in the UK to Oxford.

  • We organised the Part-time Officer Committee and did some planning for International Women’s Day

  • We set some time aside to do some impact reporting on what’s been happening over the last couple of weeks of Hilary term.

  • We had a meeting about a collaborative project with the Accommodation Services

  • We planned the next steps for the Bike Theft Support Scheme, a potential breakfast club.

  • We loved attending Conference of Common Rooms this week, bringing together student leaders across Common Rooms to have a collective voice in the Students’ Union.

We’ll be back again for next week’s round-up.
Thanks for reading!
