KEEN

KEEN logo

We exist because we believe that everyone should have an equal opportunity to take part in community-based social and recreational activities, make friends, and be included fully and equally in society. KEEN is about creating, supporting, and promoting fantastic opportunities for everyone, but particularly children and adults with a learning/physical disability, or additional needs.

Our Session Buddies make up the biggest part of our team, we are always on the look out for more, and it is a great way to experience what KEEN is all about for the first time.

  • Volunteer - multiple roles available!

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

KEEN’s movement for inclusion is expanding and recruiting! We need new volunteer team members with energy, integrity, and creativity - who also want to have fun within a friendly and inclusive team. We are looking for individuals to fill different roles, from website and tech development, social media management to content creation and project management. If you have any skills related to these areas, please contact us. Start ASAP! Commitment 3-4 hours a week. To apply, and for more info on this and other volunteer roles, see https://www.keenuk.org/join-our-team

We have multiple roles that need to be filled, specifically being:

    • Designers
    • Website developers
    • App developers
    • Content writers
    • Project managers
    • Session leaders and coordinators
    • Social media managers
    • Fundraising
    • Recruitment

As roles are on a volunteer basis, we are very flexible and you can arrange your volunteering around your schedule. All roles can be accomplished remotely, however it will be great that once the university reopens we have several volunteers that can meet in person together in Oxford to discuss and work on the campaign together!

This is a great chance to practice and apply your professional skills in your chosen area of volunteering, and there are further opportunities for an internship to pioneer your own project within KEEN.

We are super excited to develop this campaign and we look forward to your response!

  • KEEN Buddies Programme - Calling Volunteers!

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

KEEN Buddies pairs enthusiastic, reliable, friendly young people over 16 with other young people with disabilities. We create 1-1 connections based on shared interests, and buddies meet up and do fun activities of their choice. Disabled people and people with additional needs are particularly welcome to apply. A great opportunity to create tangible, rewarding positive impact, promote inclusion, and enhance interpersonal skills.

KEEN is a youth and participant-led community organisation all about including disabled children and adults in social, recreational and leisure activities. As a charity, we have been creating, supporting, and promoting inclusion for over 35 years.

At KEEN Buddies Oxford, we run a scheme connecting Oxfordshire locals with disabilities to young volunteers (16+) and, as we are currently looking to enrol more volunteers, we would love for you to consider joining us or share this opportunity with anyone you know. We are working to make Oxfordshire more inclusive and our volunteers are at the centre of this work - any help from you would be greatly appreciated!

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have launched our Virtual Buddies programme. We expect our in-person activities to resume subject to government guidance. At the moment we are especially looking for buddies who are:

    • Male (unfortunately, only 10% of our current volunteers are male)
    • Gamers (we have a lot of locals signed-up who like gaming and we try to form pairs based on mutual interests)
    • Living in Faringdon, Wallingford, Henley on Thames, Bourton, Sutton Courtenay, Marcham, Central Oxford, Chilton, Blackbird Leys, Banbury or Chinnor

Of course, we still welcome applications from people who are not in any of these categories!
