We hope you are well and are looking forward to Michaelmas term. This will certainly be an unusual start to the year, but we are in this together and we've been working tireless over the whole summer on services to support our student communities.
This email is to introduce you to our Common Room President support package. We hope you will find it helpful and really welcome your feedback!
Training
We've launched a brand new Online Training Platform to allow us to deliver our training remotely. Here are some modules which might be of interest to you as a President.
We can also create new training modules at your request.
Elections and voting
You probably already use our elections service but did you know we also offer a referendum service to support online voting for your Common Room Meetings? Here's our training on how to access and use these services.
Welfare activities
Our Advice service, which is available to all students, will soon be sending you a Wellbeing Menu outlining the welfare-focused activities that they can run for your college upon request. Last term this included dog walks, yoga, and cookery classes. Ask nicky day before email goes out.
Democracy consultancy
Our Student Engagement team have a wealth of governance knowledge, especially when it comes to Common Room constitutions. If you are thinking of restructing your Committee, amending your constitution, running your meetings differently, or have general questions about the democratic aspects of your Common Room get in touch with studentengagement@oxfordsu.ox.ac.uk.
Officer Meet Ups
Following the huge success of the self organised MCR and JCR PresCom meetings Oxford SU has set up regular meetings throughout the term with groups of Common Room Officers. You should definitely come along to PresCom and encourage your Officers to go to their meetings too!
