2019 Revision of the Queen's MCR Constitution

Constitution Revision 2019

The 2019 MCR Committee is pleased to present the 2019 Revision to the MCR Constitution.

After a long process taking more than a year, first carried out by the ad-hoc committee on the 2019 Revision which presented a proposal at the end of Hilary 2019, and followed by a number of information and discussion sessions by the MCR Executive and with the Members, the 2019 Revision is today presented for a referendum. There has not been any major revision since 2000, and a number of articles needed to reflect modern practices. The 2019 Revision has been approved by the Executive Committee and at the Stated Meeting of the Governing Body of 8th Week.

The 2019 Revision must now be ratified by the MCR Membership.

As per the current Constitution, abstentions will count towards the noes.

The MCR Committee has agreed that the consultation was sufficient and satisfactory. There were more than half a dozen meetings solely or partially dedicated to this work.

Below is a short list of the main points covered by the Revision. You are welcome to ask any question to the MCR President if you require further information.

- Membership classes.

- Executive Committee duties.

- Organisation of MCR Meetings.

- Amendments.

- Elections.

Further amendments are planned for Michaelmas 2019
